This is the local website for the campaign
in Lewes against ID cards and the proposed database
state. 'Lewes says No2ID' is part of the national
No2ID campaign.
Aims
- RAISE awareness among Lewesians of the National Identity Register, why it's
harmful and why it's a waste of taxpayer's money.
- REDUCE the harm done by the introduction of the National Identity
Register by lobbying Lewes District Council and Lewes, Seaford and Newhaven Town Councils to
- pass motions opposing the scheme
- state that people will not need an ID card to access
council services
- REPEAL the Identity Cards Act 2006 by lobbying MPs and encouraging
people to consider candidates' stances on ID cards during
elections
- RESIST the introduction of ID cards by encouraging people to
refuse to register or carry one, or by contributing to the central No2ID
legal defence fund
The anti-ID cards campaign in Lewes has only recently begun with an inaugural meeting during September 2006. We'd like to hear from anyone in the
the Lewes district who has a view on the subject or
who wants to find out more. If you're at all interested,

The facts about 'ID Cards'
There's
a lot of confusion about the government's proposed
national identity scheme, and it doesn't help that
the Home Office often gives misleading information.
